Custom Pet Portraits
Commission a Pet Portrait
To commission a custom pet portrait, please contact me (click “Contact Me” below) with your information and preferred portrait size, and then you can email me (LKICKART@GMAIL.COM) several clear, detailed photos of your pet, preferably with full view of his/her face and other features you want included in the portrait. I also love to see photos that reveal your pet’s personality. I will respond with a commission agreement and an invoice containing a link for payment if you would like for me to proceed. We will then discuss specific details and requests you have in mind. I know your pet is very special to you, so it’s important to me that you are completely happy with your finished product.
Payment & Timeline
Once an agreement is made, payment is required before I begin painting your portrait. Once you confirm the terms described in the commission agreement and your payment is received, please allow up to 2-4 weeks (depending on my schedule) for me to complete the portrait. I can give you a more accurate timeline when you contact me. You will receive a preview image before I apply finishing touches. At that point, minor adjustments can be made if you like. Please allow up to 5-7 days for packaging and shipping. Local pickup/delivery is available when applicable.
Pricing
Pricing is determined by the portrait size, number of pets in your portrait, and complexity of the background. You may choose from a solid/gradient background or a landscape background. Portraits are painted with soft pastels on thick archival fine art pastel paper and are sold UNFRAMED. Helpful information on framing is provided.
Handling and Framing Your Artwork
Pastels are made of pure pigment and won’t fade, crack, or yellow like other mediums, so pastel artwork will last indefinitely when cared for properly. However, unlike oil or acrylic paint that dries and can be touched afterward, pastels are a dry medium that will smear or smudge when touched. It is important to handle your pastel artwork carefully and frame it behind glass. Either spacers or matting must be used to separate the artwork from the glass when framing. If you choose to have it professionally framed, I recommend making it clear to your framer that you do NOT want fixative applied to your artwork when framing to prevent any alteration of color. I can give you suggestions for framing that are very cost efficient if you like. Feel free to contact me with any questions you have.
